We are excited to release the programme for this years festival and are looking forward to all the fantastic activities people are going to put on.
We've got music, storytelling and dancing performances, pop-up art works, sewing doctors and musicians around the streets, workshops in drumming, signing, animation and much more. There is something for all ages and interests.

Streetland 2013 artist residency
A little bit about what this year's Streetland artist in residence Geraldine Greene has been getting up to:
Wandering around the streets of Govanhill I am suddenly aware of how much I have missed the area. Brought up nearby in the southside of Glasgow, and having lived in Govanhill for a number of years until fairly recently, I am very familiar with the area and have a strong connection with people and places here. However,…

Can you help to deliver this years festival?
Streetland is reliant on volunteers to run and manage each years festival and we need a team of people on the day to make it all run smoothly.
Can you direct people, assist groups with the workshops or performances, set up equipment, hand out programmes, administer first aid, manage crowds?

Another good turnout this week, with several new faces adding to the numbers. A few who were there last week had warned they might be unable to make it this time, but we hope we'll see them all again next week.
Visiting us this week were Kumkum Nayyar and some members of her Slovak girls group, who also meet at the Govanhill Neighbourhood Centre. They sang some Slovak songs for us as well as joining in the songs were learning: a Hebrew round, "Zum gali gali"; the Congolese rowing song…

Our first rehearsal was on Thursday, and after what feels like months of planning and preparing, we're underway!
We had a good turnout and some fine singing, but we're still very much open to new people. There's some real talent in the group, but that shouldn't stop you coming along if you're not confident of your abilities. No experience or training whatever is necessary. On Saturday we set out to locate and find out information about food in Govanhill. We had some great conversations, meeting people who had been selling food in the area for two weeks to sixty two years! Gregs to my surprise had been there for 35 years. It was a great excuse to experiences places I had never been into since I moved here five years ago. I picked up some some Borcht pot noodle in the Polish Deli, met Graeme and Graeme who run the Meet n Eat cafe and cater for every taste and…
