Eating In - Participants wanted

Clem is looking for one more person from Govanhill who would like to help make a recipe video for the Eating in Eating Out project at Streetland.

We would need about an hour of your time to demonstrate one of your favourite recipes at home and tell us a bit about how you learnt to cook it (expenses for ingredients available).

The 6 short films will appear on the Streetland website and as part of a video installation at the festival.

Following the success of previous years, Streetland is looking for submissions for its annual open air cinema night, in Govanhill’s Westmoreland Street Gardens.

Now firmly established on the Southside calendar, Streetland is a festival of the street and creativity, which in 2011 attracted over 600 people who joined artists, musicians, singers and performers…

Onward and upward

Another good turnout this week, with several new faces adding to the numbers. A few who were there last week had warned they might be unable to make it this time, but we hope we'll see them all again next week.

Visiting us this week were Kumkum Nayyar and some members of her Slovak girls group, who also meet at the Govanhill Neighbourhood Centre. They sang some Slovak songs for us as well as joining in the songs were learning: a Hebrew round, "Zum gali gali"; the Congolese rowing song…

Govanhill Voices is GO!

Our first rehearsal was on Thursday, and after what feels like months of planning and preparing, we're underway!  

We had a good turnout and some fine singing, but we're still very much open to new people. There's some real talent in the group, but that shouldn't stop you coming along if you're not confident of your abilities. No experience or training whatever is necessary.
